 INTRODUCING TO ALGEBRA




Algebra is the branch of mathematics that uses letters, numbers, and symbols to describe theoretical rules and represent problems in the form of expressions or equations. 

Examples: 

Basic operations between fractional numbers
A number increased by 3 gives 8
A number increased by itself gives 12
A number multiplied by 2 and added to 5 gives 9
The product of two successive natural numbers is 30
The distance equals speed times time
Energy equals mass times the speed of light squared




SOME VOCABULARY 

  • Variable: They are unknown values ​​represented by alphabetic letters
  • Coefficient: It is the real number that is always multiplying the variable
  • Constant: It is a real number that is not accompanied by variables and is adding or subtracting the value of a variable
  • Term: mathematical expressions made up of a number part and a variable part 
  • Polynomial: Combination of many terms separated by addition or subtraction
